My Christmas Show season finished with a bang - literally - the production starting and ending with fireworks on stage! Hereford were on top form this year with a sparkling production which moved with pace from
beginning to end. The well lit sets by Clifford and Brown with glamorous costumes by Pershore Op and Dram. Society and the Society’s own wardrobe added to the overall success of the show. The result was a most
enjoyable evening’s entertainment for the capacity audience. A real team effort and one for which the Society can be proud. Nicolla Twigg controlled the evening for the goodies and provided some comedy as
well. Dave Piears and Patrick Taylor were in harness again as Old Mother Hubbard and Simple Simon excelling in all they did. It was good to see some good old fashioned slapstick again! Samantha Beavan in her first
principal role was delightful as Jake whilst Trudy Taylor provided the romantic touches as Polly. Matthew Watkins was fearsome as King Rat and I thought Sarah-Jane Price was superb as the Pied Piper - she could
entice me away anytime! The rest of the cast including the large chorus as the townsfolk and then of course the children first as rats and then as themselves all gave good support. The Pied Piper although not a
pantomime makes a happy seasonal show and I was pleased to see it again.
At the end of the final performance a cheque for £2,000 was given to representatives of the Charles Renton Unit, Hereford Hospitals. Many of the children on stage were given N.O.D.A. certificates for a minimum 3
years service. Well done Hereford and thank you for the invite and your warm hospitality.
